The Computer Accent

Nominees and Awards

Synopsis

The film follows the independent pop group YACHT as they employ cutting-edge data analysis tools, machine learning, neural networks, sci-instruments, and generative composition strategies to create a new kind of human-machine album. The band, non-coders with a DIY background, struggle with complex new concepts and unintuitive tools as they attempt to find their own path through the brave new world of machine intelligence. By putting AI to the test in the name of art, YACHT asks probing questions about the future of music, and ultimately question their own roles in a future where software anticipates, generates, and synthesizes human work.
